Brief

The Associate Parliamentary Minerals Group has been in operation for some time, but regular meetings were poorly attended and the group was largely ineffective. We were tasked with re-invigorating the All-Party Group, raising awareness of the UK Minerals Industry in Parliament, creating an active network of supporting Parliamentarians and informing Government policy.

Solution

To target a wider range of Parliamentarians, and encourage greater interaction with members of key select committees such as the Defra, DCLG and Treasury Select Committees, plus members of other relevant All Party Groups.

Result

We extended the active membership of the group and saw a fourfold increase in Parliamentary attendance at meetings. Having created these networks of Parliamentary support, we have utilised them to directly inform Government policy through contributing to debates, tabling Early Day Motions and other Parliamentary procedures.
